canterbury cathedral and city

Canterbury and its Cathedral, the Mother Church of the Anglican Communion, is both a holy place and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Cathedral's history starts in 597AD and is most infamous for the murder of its Archbishop Thomas Becket in 1170. Ever since the Cathedral has attracted thousands of pilgrims, as told in Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

Today you can follow those pilgrims’ trails and soak up the atmosphere as you walk through the city's streets which still retain their medieval character.

We have qualified specialist guides to provide in-depth guided tours within the cathedral.

You may wish to time your day to take in the Evensong service (open to those of all faiths and none) at the Cathedral to gaze upon the wondrous architecture whilst listening to some of the best choral music in the world.

Our chauffeured vehicles provide maximum flexibility to enjoy the country lanes with stunning views of the Kentish countryside. Other sites nearby include Dover Castle, Leeds Castle, and Eltham Palace.

Alternatively take the train from London to visit Dover and Canterbury and stay for Choral Evensong in the Cathedral before returning to London.
