The chauffeur driven vehicle will meet you at Southampton Cruise Terminal. We travel to the ancient town of Arundel in the county of West Sussex, this is
the family seat of the Duke of Norfolk, the premier Roman Catholic family in the country. The restored medieval castle was founded by Roger de Montgomery on Christmas Day 1067 and has been the home Kings and Queens, Empresses and Princes. It is a lovely castle to visit, there is also a cathedral and beautiful castle gardens to admire. Some very good, typically English pubs in the area too!
If the weather is kind to us and you are up for a stroll, we can also see the largest and best preserved Roman fort built in 200AD directly by the seashore at Portchester. However if you think you have seen enough of the sea and wish to turn inland we can visit the ancient streets of the pretty city of Chichester.
And finally, a quick exploration of the picturesque villages of the New Forest with their picturesque thatched houses and ponies that roam free and have more rights to the roads than the motorists. Just enough time to seek out a proper English cream tea and then make our way back to the ship.
